The Format International Photography Festival in Derby showcased a wide variety of art creations with different themes, topics and mediums. On display was the work, ‘Racial Souls’, a large project created by multiple photographers. A highlight of the exhibition was the work of Cecilia Bengolia who collaborated with Jamaican dancers to demonstrate language through movement. ‘Racial Souls explores how Dance in its limitless forms is used as a revolutionary tool for expressing self-identity, fighting for freedom and communicating experiences which transcend the abilities of spoken language.’ The space allowed for different forms of displaying work including hanging, printing and projecting videos on a curved screen.
